Two people were killed on the afternoon of November 22 after clashes between two Wazalendo factions in Sange. According to local sources, these groups are affiliated with Ngoma Nzito and Kamama, who clashed in the heart of Sange.
“These regrettable clashes resulted in the death of two Wazalendo fighters and caused panic among the population, already weakened by a recurring climate of insecurity,” said Martin Fikiri, coordinator of the New Congolese Civil Society (NSCC) in Uvira.
Civil society is urging provincial, military, and security authorities to take urgent, firm, and responsible measures to protect the population and ensure stability.
These organizations are calling for immediate and serious independent investigations to clarify the real causes of these confrontations, establish responsibilities, and prevent further incidents.
